Method #1 (Recommended): VPN
- Subscribe to PureVPN.
- Download our app on your device.
- Open the app and connect to any server of your choice.
- Now, go to Mega and download files as usual. The size of these files will impact your daily limit, so keep a close eye on your usage.
- If you are close to your transfer quota, disconnect PureVPN and close Mega.
- Reconnect to another server and open Mega again.
Note : You can try PureVPN 7-day trial for 0.99$
Method #2: Downloader
One way to dodge Mega’s free transfer quota is to use what’s known as a downloader. It masks your real IP address through a proxy, which allows you to get around Mega’s download quota since your IP address is used to determine your download quota. There are multiple downloader options available, but we will show you how to use JDownloader to dodge the Mega download limit:
Go to Mega and check your transfer quota. There should be no changes in the amount of data transferred. less reliable than using a VPN.
Download the JDownloader app.
Now open JDownloader and click Settings.
Go to Connection Manager and click the Add button to enter your proxy addresses.
Fill out the necessary details, such as the IP address and port number and hit the OK button.
Next, go to Mega and find the file you want to download. Right click it and choose Get Link
Head back to JDownloader and locate the LinkGrabber tab. Paste the link and click Start all Downloads.
Once the file is downloaded, it will appear in the Downloads tab with a green check mark and Finished written next to it.
Method #3: Cloudflare WARP
If you want to get around Mega’s download limit without a downloader, you can use Cloudflare WARP. Unfortunately, it only lets you bypass the download limit only once. That is because WARP is not like traditional VPNs and doesn’t change your IP address but rather uses its 1.1.1.1 DNS while encrypting your data. WARP by Cloudflare can help you if the file size is no more than 10 GB.
Here are the steps you need to follow:
- Download the Cloudflare WARP app.
- Open it and go to settings by hitting the gear icon.
- Select 1.1.1.1 with WARP.
- Go to Mega and download the files you desire.
- Once you approach the transfer quota, close Mega and open the WARP app.
- Click the switch to connect to WARP.
- Now, open Mega and you will see that another 5 GB has been added to your daily quota
Can You Increase Your MEGA Transfer Limit?
If you’re a regular user of MEGA as your cloud storage solution, opting for a paid plan could offer a smoother and more convenient experience compared to sticking with the free version. Without upgrading to a paid subscription, there’s no way to boost your transfer quota on the free tier.
Nevertheless, it’s important to recognize that with a paid subscription, it’s feasible to exhaust your entire transfer quota for the month or year right away.
It’s worth mentioning, however, that by completing certain straightforward actions—such as linking a mobile number, referring a friend, installing the desktop or mobile app—you can accumulate an extra 20GB of storage for your free account over the course of a year, bringing the total to 40GB.
Why You Should Not Use a Free VPN to Bypass Mega Download Limit?”
There is no need to stress it more: not every VPN will deliver the same results when you’re trying to bypass the Mega download limit. A free VPN will almost certainly fail since they have so many flaws. First of all, there’s no guarantee that these “free” services don’t log every bit of your internet activity. (They have to pay with something, after all.)
This may not seem like a concern, but free services have become huge headaches for their users down the line. Secondly, free VPNs severely limit your download speeds. So, even if you get lucky and find a service that can get you past the initial data limits, what good is it if you can’t properly download the data anyway?
Other issues include continuous disconnections, meaning you’ll end up having to constantly restart your Mega downloads manually, and of course, ads and the possibility of malware. No free service is worth the hassle, especially when a service like PureVPN costs less than a cup of coffee for an entire month’s subscription.
Another useful tip to keep in mind is to try and avoid downloading single large files from Mega. Now, you might understand that sometimes it’s out of your hands, but stay with me for a minute: if you have to change your location on a VPN, you need a backup. Otherwise, you will have to restart your downloads from scratch after you choose another VPN server location. Look into software that will help you segment your downloads to avoid this.
